Our Stay
Having stayed at a number of Camping and Caravanning Club Sites previously (in our tent) we knew the type of facilities to expect when we visited the Chertsey Club Site (Saturday 24th to Wednesday 28th October 2020 -half term).
Location / Access
Located just off junction 11 of the M25, the site is easy to access when towing a caravan. Its important to note that currently the sites welcome sign is not clearly visible from the road because of wooden hording around the adjacent building site -when approaching on Bridge Road Chertsey take care otherwise you will drive straight past!

The Site
Split across four areas, you have a range of different pitch types available to choose from. Three of the areas are suitable for all camping units and the forth is aimed mainly at those with tents. For those looking for the height of campsite convenience, super service pitches with water, waste and tv connections are available.
For our stay we selected pitch 17, which is a standard hard standing pitch located in the first field directly opposite a fresh water tap and a short walk from the facility block. This pitch is also not covered by trees, unlike many of the other pitches in this area of the site.

The second area of the site is the largest and contains the facilities block, while feeling more open than other campsites, trees also provide some privacy from across the river bank and neighbouring houses. There is assess to the river via a small slipway close to ‘Boat House’ (as marked on the site map). The site does have the usual playground area with swings, slide and climbing frame, however because of current COVID-19 restrictions and C&CC rules this had been closed off.
Our one disappointment was this site toilet and shower facilities. While they were cleaned twice daily there did appear to be a sewage aroma inside the building. The showers were unfortunately, at best, lukewarm each time we used them. There was no mop or squeegee to clean the floor after using the shower (this maybe due to COVID rules).

Some pitches do offer beautiful views over the Thames. Note -Due to the sites close proximity to the river visitors are asked to ensure their tow vehicle is kept on site each night and that camping units are not left unattended over night due to flood risk.
There is no need to pack you ramps and chocks for this site as it is completely flat and to level our unit we simply had to lower the jockey wheel. This is a child friendly and secure campsite with a 4ft fence placed in front of the river and a entry barrier with pin code is in use (changed every Monday for security -don’t forget to get the new code from Reception if your visit is over a change over day!)
In the area
The Chertsey Club Site has a pub/hotel located a 2 minute walk down the road (turn left at the site exit) –The Bridge Hotel -£££ we visited the pub twice during our stay, once for the Sunday evening quiz and again to spend our winnings! We also visited The Kingfisher -££££ which is located just over the Chertsey Bridge. We had a lovely, but expensive Sunday lunch here with friends.

In the town of Chertsey there is a The Co-operative Food Store (0.4 miles/7 minute walk), Sainsburys (0.7miles/2 minute drive) and Aldi (1mile/3 minute drive). In nearby Addlestone there is a Waitrose (1.7 miles/5 minute drive) and Tesco Extra (1.8 miles/5 minute drive. Directly opposite the entrance is a BP Fuel station.
Being located so close to the capital the Chertsey Site has numerous visitor attractions on its doorstep including Thorpe Park, Chessington World of Adventure and Legoland. During our visit we decided to visit Windsor Castle and NT Polesden Lacey.
