During our recent visit to Clumber Park Caravan and Motorhome Club Site we visited four local tourist destinations they are all well worth a visit in staying at the site. For our review of the site click here.
Clumber Park (National Trust)
Located about one mile from the Club site Clumber Park visitor centre is a real hub of activity. From the car park you can explore the whole 3 thousand hecres that includes a lake, grade one listed bridge, walled garden, stable courtyard and parkland. We walked from the visitor centre to the recently restored grade 1 listed bridge. This was deliberately damaged back in 2018 but has been returned to its former glory.

Rufford Abbey
Rufford Abbey just of the A614 just past Ollerton (about 15 minutes from Clumber Park CAMC Site). The country park includes Rufford Abbey itself (managed by English Heritage) and the wider estate. To park our car it cost £4 (one price for the whole day).

Sherwood Pines (Forestry England)
Sherwood Pines is a must visit attraction in the local area. Run by Forestry England (previous The Forestry Commission), there is a whole host of activities to enjoy while there, including walking trails, cycle trails, Go Ape and Segway Safari. When we arrived the car park was very busy, but there lots of parking available.

The visitor centre was extremely busy with lots of people enjoying the great outdoors with friends and family, we decided to follow the red walking route through the woods. This trail is 4.5miles long and took it lots of elements of the area including information about the history of the pine forest and recreated trench system. When we had finished the walk we enjoyed a sausage roll and coffee in the Sherwood Pines Café.
Sherwood Forest
We also visited Sherwood Forest, this is home to the Major Oak (in folklaw this was Robin Hood’s shelter). We enjoyed a walk around the area however we were alittle underwhelmed by the Major Oak after all the hype it was given. After all it was just a big tree being held up by supports!

Hardwick Hall
We visited Hardwick Hall near to Chesterfield during our stay at the Clumber Park Site as well. This National Trust property is about 40 minutes from the Club site. There are many different walks around the large parkland. Dogs are welcome in the parkland, but not in the formal gardens. As we had our Cockapoo (Meg) with us on this visit we had to take it in turns to walk around. We didn’t visit the inside of the property on this visit but hope to return to look at its treasures again soon.
More YouTube videos from our visits are coming soon! This page will be updated when they are uploaded.
