Our visit

We visited Lydford Gorge as part of our Summer 2021 tour. If you are in the area and are looking for a place to take an adventurous walk this is ideal.

Half Way Coffee

The walk is a mixture of hard footpaths, stone steps and granite rocks. For the trickier parts there are hand rails (this is mostly on the return part of the trail, after the Waterfall back towards the Devils Cauldron). Throughout the gorge markers have been placed for safety to tell you were you are on the map and also the direction to the nearest National Trust ranger location.

Worth knowing

There are two car parks for visitors, one located near the Devils Cauldon (closed during our visit due to storm damage) and another up the hill for the Whitelady Waterfall. If you do not want to do the whole walk Park at the Whitelady Waterfall car park and walk down to the waterfall view point.
