Our Stay
We stayed at Charmouth during the first weekend of the School Summer Holidays 2021, for 4 nights. Prior to our visit we had phoned to request two pitches next to each other as we were visiting with Tom’s parents in their campervan. The site staff where more than happy to sort this.
Location / Access
Located just off the A35 between Charmouth and Axeminster the site has good access to the local towns, beaches and attractions.

The Site
This is a large site with pitches mostly set out in meadows of around 6 pitches surrounded by high hedges. There is lots of open green space between each pitche, so you really felt a sense of space.

There is a large welcome area that has space for many units to arrive at one time. The site does have a security barrier that is closed at 11pm each night, a late night car park is located just up the lane from the main entrance.

The site has been split into several paddocks that are enclosed by high hedges. Each paddock has around 8 pitches in. There are two full facilities blocks that are very impressive, the site has previously won Loo of the Year and this is no surprise as they are of a high quality and kept very clean. The showers all have large cubicle areas and the showers themselves are very powerful.

There are a number of food vans that visit the site each week, including fish and chips, pizza and Folk – breakfasts, pies etc.

In the area
While the site is named Charmouth, the village is a 5 minute drive away (3 miles) along the A35. Charmouth is famous for its beaches that are filled with fossil hunters, they are easily accessible from the many car parks nearby. Charmouth has a few small shops and a visitor centre.
Seaton Tramway During our visit we went to the Seaton Tramway, this is well worth a visit to anyone who hasn’t visited the area before. We parked the car at Colyton Station and took the tram down to Seaton, in the summer season trams run every 20 minutes.
The famous seaside town of Lyme Regis is just around the bay from Charmouth with traditional seaside shops and restaurants.
