Location

The Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway has a number of stations located along its line. The main stations are Cheltenham Racecourse, Toddington and Broadway. Each have car parking available (some are chargable).

Price

At the time of our visit the cost of an Adult All Day Rover Ticket was £25, a Child (5-15yrs) ticket was £10 and a Family (2 adults and up to 3 children) ticket was £60. This type of ticket allows unlimited travel up and down the line during one day.

Our visit

We started our visit on the GWSR at Broadway Station. This is located just across the road from the Caravan and Motorhome Club’s Broadway Club Site (we were staying at Moreton In Marsh Club Site). There is a chargeable car park near to the station (you can claim a discount off of your ticket price if you buy a whole day car park ticket).

We travelled from Broadway Station the whole length of the line to Cheltenham Racecourse. After getting off of the train we then walked to the park and ride bus station, this is a 20 to 30 minute uphill walk. There are very regular buses that service the car park, which only take around 8 minutes to get into the centre of Cheltenham.

Interesting Fact

The station at Broadway only reopened in 2018, it has been completely rebuilt in the same design as the original and a replacement replica GWR foot bridge is currently under construction.

Worth knowing

The Caravan and Motorhome Club’s Broadway and Cheltenham Racecourse Sites are both located close to the railway. One of the facilities blocks at Broadway is infact an old railway engine shed from the original railway.
