Today (Sunday) marks the end of the NEC Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show 2022, this is the first show since 2020 and the first since we came into caravanning.

The show sees manufacturers, industry experts, and other organisations coming together to showcase all they have to offer the leisure sector.

We visited the show on Saturday together with the other thousands of people who had pre-booked their tickets (which sold out weeks previously). Having arrived very early (the show not opening until 10am) we made use of Starbucks and planned out our route around the four halls with the showguide and map.

We started our visit in hall three and visited the Dometic Outdoor stand to check out the 2022 awnings. As those that have read our previous blogs we do like Dometic awnings. The material quality and design is excellent. Our new caravan has a different window configuration, therefore our previous awning would not fit the caravan (it would come down over a window), so we were in the market for a larger one. During the show there was an offer for a free carpet and roof lining. An offer we could refuse so order placed on a Dometic Grande Air 390.

After this purchase we then went to have a look around the Robinsons Caravan Stand, this is the dealer we have our Elddis Affinity 550 ordered with. Jordan (from Robinsons Caravans) was very pleased to see us and took the time to chat about updates on our caravan. We also took the opportunity to look at the Elddis Sherwood dealer edition.

We wondered around some of the other caravan dealerships and visited the Erwin Hymer Group stand to take another look inside our new caravan, to remind us of the space we will have when we finally get it. The caravans were advertised with their current prices on, ours is now around £3,000 more than what we paid in September last year!

There are lots of stands at the show with everything you would ever need for your caravan and motorhome, we checked out many and got lots of ideas to add to the wish list!

The show also had a number of activities for those visiting to take part in, including talks from famous faces of the industry as well as a a full on beach for sand castle building and a pier to go crabbing. There was even the chance to have a go at canoing and paddle boarding in a large pool built in hall 6. During the day we walked over 12,000 steps, this is a large show with lots to explore over the four halls of the NEC.

The next NEC show is the Motorhome and Caravan Show 2022 (18-23rd October) hopefully by then we will have our caravan!
