Our Stay

We stayed at Ilminster at the start of our Cornwall 2022 tour during the August 2022.

Location / Access

The Ilminster site is located just of the A303 between Ilminister and Honiton, approx 14 miles from the M5. The main road to the site is a little twisty but not to bad, however the turn from the A303 to Giants Grave (site road) is very sharp, so we suggest taking it very slowly, this road is also only single carageway with passing places.

Directions

The below route guidance is based on information from the Caravan and Motorhome Club website and our own experience.

Turn left off the A303 (Ilminster – Honiton) at crossroads signposted Crickleaze, Whitestaunton (about 0.75 mile past La Campagna, Restaurant & Bar) into narrow lane. The site is through the second entrance on the left in 250 yards. Do not turn into first entrance (Five Acres House) as it is difficult to back out. On departing the site, please turn left at junction with A303; in 1 mile at the dual carriageway turn left at signpost Marsh; continue under bridge and turn right to rejoin A303 (E).

The Site

Ilminster is one of the smallest club sites we have visited with 68 pitches (22 are hardstanding) set out in a horse shoe shape with the facilities block located at the top. These facilities seemed new and were very clean, with three showers in the male side.

In the area

This stay was only for one night enroute to Cornwall therefore we didn’t explore much of the area, however we did go to Clarks Outlet Shopping in Street (around 40 minutes away). We also had fish and chips from West Street Fish and Chips in Ilminster which we would recommend.
