Our Stay
We visited Carsington Water Club Campsite during the Easter Bank Holiday weekend 2023.
Location
The Carsington Water site is located just above the reservoir of the same name near the Derbyshire town of Ashbourne (approx 5.5 miles away).
Directions
The below route guidance is based on information from the Caravan and Motorhome Club website and our own experience.
If visiting this site please do not use your sat nav for the final approach as this will navigate you to the rear entrance. The route from Kirk Ireton is very narrow and now suitable for those towing caravans or in Motorhomes. The A52 also has very steep gradients so also not recommended. We would advise that you turn left off the A517 (Ashbourne – Belper) in Hulland Ward at the signpost to Carsington Water into Dog Lane. Turn right after 0.75 mile at the crossroads (brown signpost) to Carsington Water. The site is on the right handside in approximately 1 mile.
The Site
This site is open from March each year. There is one facility block located in the middle of the site.
The facilties block is modern and cleaned to a very high standard as usual with all CAMC sites that we have visited.
In the area
Carsington Water is located close to the town of Ashbourne, known as the gateway to Dovedale.
During our time at Carsington we visited the Ecclesborough Valley Railway and Crich Tramway Village (discounts to members of the CAMC).

The Caravan and Motorhome Club were upgrading their WiFi system and service during our stay, which meant that wifi was not available on pitch during our stay (April 2023).
