A Dam good walk at Carsington

When visiting the Caravan and Motorhome Club Carsington Water site it is definitely worth a walk in the area. Derbyshire is a beautiful county with looks of very impressive sights, the Severn Trent Carsington Water is one of these. Apart from the walk down (and then up again on the return) the only hill on this route is that on the access road to the club site.

This 3 miles round trip route is idea for those that what to take a walk but not spend the whole day out.

1- Leave the Caravan and Motorhome Club site (Carsington Water) via the access road. -Beware of traffic arriving and leaving the site.

2-At the bottom of the access road (use the hand gate) turn right onto the footpath.

3-Follow the footpath along side the road towards Carsington Water.

4-At the Millfields Car Park cross over the enterance road and continue along the sign posted route towards the dam. -Note there are toilet facilities at this car park.

5-Follow the signed route across the dam.

6- At the end of the dam follow the pathway around to the right. Cross over the access road to the Carsington Sailing Club and continue to the visitors centre. The visitors centre has a selection of small local shops selling crafts, walking items, and RSPB items. There is also a cafe and restaurant that serves hot and cold food, ice creams, drinks etc.
