Our Stay

We stayed at Coed Y Llwyn Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite in August 2023.

Set up on pitch 70

Location

The Coed Y Llwyn Campsite is located in the village of Gellilydan within the Eryri National Park (previously known at the Snowdonia National Park).

Directions

The below route guidance is based on information from the site/CAMC and our own experience.

  • From the North and South: (Via A5 through Langollen and Corwen) – 3m after Corwen turn left off A5 at the 2nd set of traffic lights (signposted Bala) onto A494. At Bala turn right onto A4212 (signposted Trawsffynydd). In about 17.5m turn right at the T junction onto A470/487 (signposted Porthmadog), within 3m continue straight on A487 (do not turn right onto A470 signposted Ffestiniog). In 0.25m turn left into lane signposted Gellilydan and immediately fork left (signposted CAMC Site). The site is on the left in 0.25m, past the Bryn Arms Pub. The access road is narrow.

The Site

The site reopened at the end of July 2023 following a redevelopment, which included a brand new facilities block with more showers and toilets than previously on the site, these have also been designed so that half can be closed with the others remaining opening therefore no need to close the whole block for cleaning.

The site is located in a beautiful part of North Wales with great views of the Moelwyn mountain range. At times you can hear the steam trains running on the Ffestiniog Railway on the otherside of the Vale of Ffestiniog.

The site has six different areas with a range of pitch types (serviced, standard hardstanding, non-awning hardstanding and grass) mostly with electric hookup.

Bike stand including cycle pump
and maintenance tools

Next to the facilities block is a dog/bike wash area together with a cycle maintaince stand that includes wheel pump,

There are a number of service points across the site and one motorhome service area with a drive overpoint for waste water disposal.

In the area

This site is located within the Eryri National Park (Snowdonia) there are plenty of walks and cycle routes to follow. During our visit we took a ride on the Ffestiniog Railway from Blaneau Ffestiniog to Porthmadog. We visited Portmeirion, Barmouth, Betws-Y-Coed and Zip World Llechwedd (click the links to see our reviews).
