During our stay at Coed Y Llwyn CAMC Campsite we visited the Ffestiniog Railway, travelling from Blaenau Ffestiniog to Porthmadog.

The Ffestiniog Railway is a narrow gauge heritage railway that transports you along the former slate way through the Vale of Ffestiniog. The trip down to Porthmadog takes around 1hour 30minutes with a couple of short stops at some of the route stations to allow railway tokens to be past between locomotives.

We left Blaenau Ffestiniog at 11.40 (this was the only ‘Quarryman’ service of the day). We arrived in Porthmadog at 1.15pm, the return train left at 3pm which gave us enough time to have lunch and explore the shops in the town.

After looking around Porthmadog, we returned to the station and watched some of the other services leave before reboarding our train back to Blaenau Ffestiniog.
