Our Stay

We visited Longleat over the August 2024 bank holiday weekend.

Location

As previously said, the site is located within the Longleat Estate. It is important to follow the arrival instructions for this site as it is down a narrow county lane. The nearest towns are Frome and Warminster.

Directions

The below route guidance is based on information from the site/CAMC and our own experience.

  • Follow sat nav to The White Hart pub (postcode BA12 7PH) then follow the brown tourist signs to the site. Alternatively, turn left off the A36 Warminster bypass (Salisbury – Frome) at the roundabout onto the A362 (signposted Frome). In about 0.5 mile at the roundabout take the A362 (third exit) to Frome. After 2.25 miles turn into Lane End next to the White Hart pub. Continue past the Safari Park Entrance and Stalls Farm before turning left again. The site entrance is 200 metres on left. This is the only permitted entry route for caravans and motorhomes. When using sat nav for directions to the site, please use the postcode BA12 7PH ( pub at Lane End on the A362), and follow the brown direction signs to site. If coming from the Warminster direction on the A362 please do not attempt to take the first left after the Royal Oak pub as this lane is far too narrow.

The Site

The site has the standard range of caravan and motorhome club pitches, most of which are hardstanding. There are two tent areas, one with electric and one without. There are two facilities blocks with ladies and gents showers. In the centre of the site is another building that houses a laundry, information room, and games room.

In the area

Longleat Estate adventure park and house are located 100 yards from the site entrance and then the safari park entrance is around 1 mile away. For the safari you can either take your own car or there is a bus available for an additional fee. When visiting the safari we would highly recommend downloading the Longleat App and using the safari tour feature. It uses GPS to locate what part of the safari you are in and plays a voice over explaining about the animals etc.
